This past Saturday our son Kaden (#2) competed in a Jr. Olympics style event against other schools in Nicaragua. In the picture above, are 2 friends from Kaden's school that also qualified for the competition. As you can see, Kaden is very tall for 7 years old. His friends pictured are 12 and 9. It was quite the experiance. He was the only foreigner on the field and of course we were the only foreigners cheering. I guess you could say we kind of stood out. He did an outstanding job!!! We are so proud of him. All the instructions and rules were, of course, were in Spanish and he didn't miss a beat. In 3 of his 5 events he placed 1st and his school took 2nd place for the day. We are so proud of him!
Kendra and I both loved running track when we were younger. I especially loved being on the relay team. There were four of us and we all had our part to do. When our part was done, we passed the baton off to our next teammate. To finish the race, we all had to do our part to the best of our ability. With most relay teams, "Coach" would save the best athlete for the last leg of race. It was the athlete that Coach knew would be the best to bring it down the “homestretch” and to finish strong. My teammates and I would all want to be picked by Coach for that 4th leg of the race because we all knew that Coach saved the best for last.
As I stop and think about what’s going on with the world around us, I can’t stop thinking about my track days when I was younger. I know that we are living in the last days, but to know that God chose me and chose you to be the last leg of the great race is very humbling. We have read about so many great men and women of God and what they did to advance and add to the Kingdom of God, it blows my mind to know that they already passed on the baton. Now they are cheering us on to finish the race strong. God chose us for such a time as this! Your faithfulness in prayer and support during these days tells me that we are running with men and women who have their eyes fixed on Christ. Thank you for allowing us to be your hands extended here in Nicaragua!
