I just want to take a moment and share with you a little about Kaleb. He and I just came back from an adventure, ministering in the mountains. Kaleb is full of love, life, and Jesus and wants to share all of the above with everyone. We traveled 8 hours on Friday past Matagalpa into the mountains to the "Farming School of Hope" with fellow missionary NoemÃ. We had a 3 day trip planned to check on the farm, do some training on the farm, speak on Saturday morning, and train the leaders of our new discipleship program called Project "Felipe" Saturday afternoon.
With a full 3 days ahead of us we headed straight for the farm when we arrived. There we found all the youth that work on the farm who are being trained and discipled. They were excited to show us all of the fruit trees they had just planted within the last 2 weeks, as well as, the rice that had been planted since we had last been there. They were excieted to show us their work, but sad that their work was dying because of the lack of rain. Here, it is rainy season and it should rain everyday, but they had gone nearly 8 days without rain.
There was not a cloud in the sky to be found as we stood there on the side of the mountain with 8 of the youth and the director of the farming project. Kaleb said, "Mommy we should pray and ask God to bring them rain so they can eat." So, Kaleb and I knelt down on the side of the mountain and prayed. Not even 2 minutes passed and the rain came pouring down. We all went running in the pouring rain back down
to where the truck was parked. Once we reached the truck Kaleb says, "Mom, I'm sorry, we should have waited to pray until we got back to the truck so everyone wouldn't be soaked, because we knew that when we prayed, it would rain". I love my little guy so much. This is the childlike faith we have to keep. The youth rode
on the back of the truck back into town and were telling the other people in town what happened when Kaleb prayed. They were so excited!
We had an incredible weekend and God used Kaleb in so many wonderful ways. We had a great time during our Project "Felipe" training and when we got home Kaden (7) and Kaleb (6) decided they wanted to complete the kids version of the project just like the youth in the mountains. All 3 studies last 6 weeks each and the study guides are in spanish. I read the stories and scriptures to them in Spanish and Kaden translates anything Kaleb doesn't understand to him. Then they both do the workbook on their own. Talk about team work!
Thank you to all of you who make it possible for us to be here and serve in Nicaragua. Thank you for not only investing into Ken and I, but also into the lives of our children.
