Words can not express the eternal impact of the children's camp the Michigan AIM team did this summer. 32 young people from Michigan came to partner with us in the vision to take 50 kids from the Mangaua city dump to camp. Through much prayer and lots of planning, together we all pulled it off. We look forward to many testimonies in the future about the impact this camp had on the lives of the precious children that were able to go. It was beautiful to see the kids we love so much running around, singing, praying and splashing through the water at the lake with our friends from Michigan. The community has been blessed and we have seen a positive change in the attitude and lives of the children and parents. Every child has a name and a story to be shared and through this camp we had the opportunity to build lasting relationships with children who come from a very hopeless community. We were able to hear their stories and learn how we can better minister to the needs of this community in the future. Ken was with the children on the bus ride back to Managua from the camp. His heart was touched after more than an hour and a half had gone by and the kids were sitting silent on the bus and their eyes filled with tears. So many special memories were made for these precious children. Many of them saying, "This was the best time of my life." We wanted to show them Christ's love and compassion so that we may have an open door in their hearts to continue to minister and disciple the young people in their community.
Next month in September when the Engage students arrive, we will be starting a discipleship/evangelism group in the dump with the older students that came to camp. We look forward to the day when these young people will be with us out on other streets of Nicaragua sharing Christ's love with others.
Thank you Michigan AIM for helping us make one of our dreams a reality for these special children. God has big plans with each one of them and we are excited to see that unfold.
